I've always wanted to travel, but I've never had the funds and I've always been in school. I recently saw Endless Saturday, and now I'm wondering if someone could backpack around the world and be an observant Jew. It warrants looking into. For that reason, I'm making note of these links:

Absolutely you can travel and backpack. Plenty of religious israeli kids do it every year. And with the new ziplocs that allow you to steam within the bag it's even easier LOL... it's more fun with someone else--Shabbat, as you know, can get lonely but don't get encouraged and be off to India... or wherever your fancy takes you.
